Microcomputer Specialist: Provide computer support to all users at three US facilities. Solicit bids and make final purchase decisions for computers and parts.   Stock, maintain, and troubleshoot all desktop and notebook PCs, printers, and servers.  Setup and maintain system backups, TCP/IP availability and maintenance, login accounts, system security, software distribution and network communication. Blend Japanese, Chinese and English desktop operating systems to function similarly. Evaluate new software for usability and compatibility.  Instruct users on use of software and hardware. Laboratory Technician: Performed toxicological tests on patient samples for area hospitals and laboratories.  Designed an experiment to test for nicotine levels in patient serum for a physician’s clinical thesis.  Maintained mass spectrometer, gas chromatographs and other lab equipment.

Technical Committee Chairman/Technician: Maintained and operated the Student Activities Departments 500 and 1500 seat venues and their respective sound and light systems.  Managed concert production of up to 20 volunteers and 5 paid staff.  Trained volunteers and staff in the operation of sound and light systems.  Designed, constructed, and quality tested lighting and speaker systems.  Advised for purchase decisions.

Volunteer, Student Conservation Association, Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii

Assist the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department in habitat management to save the endangered Hawaiian crow (‘Alala).  Work with mosquito control projects on the island.  Assist in other ongoing field work and laboratory projects.

 

Volunteer, United States Department of Agriculture, U.S. Forest Service, Daniel Boone National Forest, Stanton Ranger District

Supervise trail crews and perform trail maintenance in the 35,000 acre Red River Gorge Geologic Area.  Construct new trails as needed.  Assist in historic artifact recovery.  Perform carpentry and maintenance at the Gladie Creek Historic Site.  Repair and maintain volunteer equipment.  On call for mountain search and rescue team in the Red River Gorge Area.  Volunteer of the Year for the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 2003.

Supervise crews and perform trail maintenance on trails within the forest.  Assist in new trail construction and design.   Assist in coordinating volunteer participation for trail maintenance.
